This patch will remove Lexmark and LexmarkInkjet keys from the registry at: HKey_Current_User\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\Machine\Software Note the registry section is HKey_Current_User which mean the issue should not exist if you crate another administrator account and log on to that account. THIS ONLY AFFECTS Vista and later systems, XP will not have virtualization issues Issues we have seen: 1. constant communication error, again if you create a new account to test with then the communication error should not exist, you can then delete the test account and run the patch 2. intermittently you receive script errors or you send the job and it just sits in the queue, again try the new account before running the patch; although the keys being created should not be there anyway so no harm to run the patch. If you create the new account and the issue still exist this patch will more than likely not resolve the issue. There could be other issues we do not know about that are caused by virtualization, if you create a new account and the issue does not exist, then try the patch and let us know. What is virtualization of registry keys? When we are installing and writing registry keys if for any reason the the Operating System thinks it does not have the proper permissions to write the key then it will write it in another part of the registry in an attempt to resolve that it can write the key(s). Then OS schema would attempt to redirect to this section of the registry if you are accessing these keys. operating system
